This
hike is the city’s most beautiful, but it is only recommended for the
reasonably fit and experienced hiker.
This giant granite mountain sits on the shoreline and is easily
visible from Ipanema Beach. The summit is 2,750 feet and defined by
its huge flat top. The trail lies inside the Atlantic rain forest, and
is very steep, requiring lots of scrambling, and a 50 ft rock climb
section. It takes 3 hrs to reach the summit, where we have an amazing,
unique view of the city, beaches and forest. The descent takes 1.5
hrs. |
