Tijuca National Park is the largest urban rainforest in the world. The
mountains are covered by Atlantic rainforest, which form a beautiful
background with the huge granite slabs of rock that are easily
viewable from the city’s beaches.
Inside the park, we will visit all of the highlights including the
Chinese View, Emperor’s Table and Taunay Waterfall. The summit of
Tijuca Peak is 3,300 feet and a roundtrip climb is about 2.5 hours.
Next it is off to Corcovado Mountain to see Rio’s most recognizable
sight, the statue of Christ. Leaving the forest we will explore the
Santa Teresa area which is filled with old architectural buildings,
magnificent museums and a ride on Rio’s only tram line. |
