Monkey Jungle
– is a rehabilitation center for primates that have been illegally
captured. Guests of the lodge are allowed to enter the area during
feeding time. Under the supervision of specialized staff, guests are
able to observe, film and photograph the primates in a safe
environment.
Visit Amazonian “Caboclos”
- These Amazonian dwellings are simple huts located along the
riverside. Guests are accompanied by a bilingual guide who explains
the traditions and customs of the locals. Transport is done using
canoes.
Alligator Spotting – These evening tours are done in complete
darkness with only the sounds of the amazon. The bilingual guides will
use a flashlight in an attempt to momentarily stun the alligators,
giving them enough time to grab them with their bare hands. When done
successfully, the alligator will be passed around the canoe before
being safely released back into the water.
Piranha Fishing – With your bilingual guide and armed with a
simple stick and pieces of meat you will try your luck at catching
piranhas. Piranhas can bite very fast, so you need to react very
quickly once you feel something nibbling on your bait.
Full day at the “Meeting of the Waters” – One of the highlights
of the Amazon. This is where the black waters of the Negro River and
the brown waters of the
Solimões
River meet. It is very
impressive as there is a distinctive separation between the two rivers
before they finally mix and form the mighty Amazon River. It is also
not uncommon to see grey and pink dolphins on this tour. |
