If you worship the sun and sand, this is a must see tour. Most travelers to Rio experience the beauty and atmosphere of only 2 beaches. This tour will take you to 9 different beaches where you can see cariocas hard at work and play. In Rio the beach isn’t a place to read a book. It is a place to socialize with friends, play beach volleyball, footvolley (volleyball without using your hands!), beach soccer, surf, fresco ball, and the most common: flirting with the opposite sex.

Copa” is one of the most famous beaches in the world. Here you can see locals mingling with tourists and playing a variety of sports. Its boardwalk is lined with many kiosks where you can enjoy a very cold beer or a chilled coconut.

Ipanema
is one of the best beaches in Rio, with many beautiful people parading about. Between Posto 9 and 10 you will see an eclectic potpourri of lifestyles and ages.

Continuous with Ipanema, we have Leblon which is calm and more family oriented. At the end of the beach there’s the Mirante do Leblon with a lovely view for panoramic pictures.

In Sao Conrado you will find Pepino beach and the hang gliders. Grab a cold drink and watch as they land in the sand after flying from Pedra Bonita.

Barra de Tijuca
, or more commonly referred to as “Barra” (pronounced Ba-ha) is a rapidly developing area. The 12 km long beach is very windy and has strong waves, making it an ideal spot for windsurfing and kite surfing.

Forming part of the same strip of sand, at the end of the beach is Recreio dos Bandeirantes. Here you will find forest-covered environmental protection areas between the ocean and the lagoon.

Macumba
and Prainha beaches are wilder and have better surf. Prainha is a small beach with huge waves, making it a paradise for surfers. The kiosks here cater to the surfer and offer energy drinks, natural foods and various surfing accessories.

Grumari
is a huge beach filled with reddish sand and worthy of an afternoon. During the week it is calm, but always packed during the weekend. In front of the beach you will notice that there are no apartments or large buildings.
